The “Other” Kona Mom
One of the most memorable performances of 2022 took place at the VinFast IRONMAN World Championship when professional athlete Chelsea Sodaro claimed victory in her first attempt at the event in 8:33:46. In doing so, she also became the first mom in over a decade to win at Kona. When she lifted her 18-month-old daughter, Skye, into her arms at the finish line, she became a source of inspiration for female triathletes everywhere.
Racing alongside Sodaro that day was another incredible mom from Buffalo Grove, Illinois: Jacqui Giuliano. This seventh-grade math teacher is not only a two-time IRONMAN age-group champion and an eight-time IRONMAN World Championship qualifier—when she toed the line at Kona last October, she had her 3-month-old twins in tow.
