So far this year, I’ve had the opportunity to interview two Olympic gold medalists: Jan Frodeno, and now, Gwen Jorgensen. We can move on to 2024. 😉
If you don’t know much about Gwen, seven years ago, she was at the peak of her triathlon career: 27 wins, 39 podiums, two World Championship titles, and an undefeated season, all capped off by winning the US its first gold medal in triathlon at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Then, she decided to start a family and had two sons: Stanley in 2017 and George in 2022. Now, two kids and seven years later, with the siren song of an Olympic qualification year calling her name, she wants to give it another shot.
Her goal is to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Is it possible? Yes. Is it going to be easy? No. But Jorgensen doesn’t need easy; she just needs a chance.
